Brian Bornino — Software Engineer

I’m a Software Engineer with seven years of building internal workflow automation at CalPERS, and I’m currently deep in the Anthropic Claude API — shipping production-grade AI tools at a pace of roughly two a week using Claude Code. The projects have full test suites, documented build decisions, and real use cases. Not demos.

Before that: PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript at enterprise scale. Ruby, Laravel, Django, React, TypeScript, Docker, and AWS along the way. The throughline is backend systems that hold up under load and codebases other people can actually maintain.

Work-Life Balance

Clean code is the job. Gardening, cooking, hiking, bike riding, and square dancing are what keep the thinking fresh. Life runs better with things that have nothing to do with a keyboard.
